Handmade clothing and textile printing Atelier Karaïbes in Guadeloupe

I support the local economy

On our product labels and our website, this emblem carries a simple promise: every purchase supports the local economy. In Guadeloupe and Les Saintes, that means buying from local sewing supply shops, working with local seamstresses and creating jobs through our business.

It also reflects the care we put into our creations: selecting fabrics and base products, finishing each piece, producing quality prints and checking our work. In our shops, we take time to offer advice and explain what we do.

The work we do depends on the product: we make our sewn pieces in our workshops, while our T-shirts are sourced from textile manufacturers and then printed in-store. Fabrics and base products have their own origins, which we explain in our product information and on the relevant items.

Our clothing: made in France’s overseas territories

Our wax print and madras pieces are designed, cut and sewn entirely in our workshops in Guadeloupe and Les Saintes. That is what Made in France means for us in the French Caribbean: local craftsmanship, from fabric to finished piece.

The same tailor crafts each piece entirely and oversees it until the final inspection. This continuity allows perfect knowledge of the fabric, pattern and cut, with the care of true artisanal work.

Fabrics carefully chosen and sourced with precision.

Our madras is woven in France. Our wax print fabrics come from several known sources, and we know the workshops that make them. We choose them for their colours, flexibility, comfort and durability. Learn more about our selection of wax prints.

For T-shirts, we carefully select fabric quality, cut, comfort, and durability before choosing a model.

Sewn and printed by us, on-site

Our small batches of T-shirts are printed by us on site, in our workshop-shops in Terre-de-Haut and Saint-François. Our original illustrations are positioned, printed, and checked by our team before sale.

The “Create your T-shirt” range is printed on demand according to the chosen combination. In both ranges, we pay the same attention to placement, sharpness, and durability of the motif.

Made-to-order t-shirts: our own ink

For the Create your T-shirt, we make our own ink, hypoallergenic and solvent-free.

The ink integrates inside the T-shirt fiber: the design does not create any raised area and keeps impeccable quality through washes. This specific process explains the exclusive black printing of this on-demand range.

Produce just the right amount

Our handmade clothing collections and our T-shirts printed by us on site are offered in small batches that change regularly. The “Create your T-shirt” range is printed on demand, on a dedicated men's and women's range, with our available illustrations.

This organization helps us avoid standardized volumes and limit unsold stock, while allowing our collections to live and change with fabrics, colours, and designs.

Pieces designed to last and adapt.

Our clothes are designed to fit different body shapes and accompany movements. For children, some adaptable pieces adjust to growth so they can be worn for several years.

We complete this work with careful finishing, quality garments and sharp prints made to last. Discover the handmade clothing collection and the small batches of T-shirts.

Useful answers

All questions
What does “I support the local economy” on your labels mean?

Your purchase supports a local network: the sewing supply shops we buy from, the local seamstresses we work with and the jobs our business creates in Guadeloupe and Les Saintes. Sewing in our workshops, printing in our shops and welcoming customers keep these skills alive every day.

How we support the local community
How to identify what your team makes on a product?

The product page specifies its material and characteristics. For sewing, our team cuts and sews pieces in our workshops; for T-shirts, it selects the bases and prints the illustrations in-store.

Does small series mean I can fully customize everything?

A small series is chosen from its available variations. Online customization follows dedicated paths: Create your T-shirt for our illustrations, and use the sticker configurator for your compositions.
