Creating a T-shirt range for your business in France and Europe

Clothing may not be your main business, but customers connect with your place, team or identity. Your own T-shirt range can carry that connection beyond a visit. Atelier Karaïbes works on collection projects for businesses in mainland France, the Caribbean and elsewhere in Europe. Here is how to turn an idea for branded merchandise into a clear project brief.

Start with what customers want to wear

A logo identifies your business; a collection should also make people want to wear the garment elsewhere. Think about what customers associate with you: a landscape, an activity, an atmosphere or a character. A campsite might draw on its surroundings, while a bike shop might look to group rides and workshop life. Choose one clear idea rather than a collection of unrelated symbols.

Define a focused first range

List the styles, colours, designs and sizes you are considering. Each combination is a separate item to track: two designs, two colours and five sizes create twenty combinations before quantities are decided. This is an example, not a minimum order. Keep the range manageable enough for your team to explain, store and replenish alongside its main work.

Choose ready-printed stock or in-store printing

Ready-printed stock can be displayed and handed to the customer at purchase. Printing in store needs a different setup: equipment, workspace, available garments and a trained team. It can make choosing a design part of the shop experience. We discuss the approach that suits your project; having your own brand does not automatically mean installing a press in your business.

Include labels and bags in the brief

A collection needs a consistent identity, from the artwork to its presentation. Specify the name to display, any existing brand assets and the items you need. We can discuss printed T-shirts together with branded labels and bags. Separate the files you already have from artwork still to be created, and provide the exact wording for the name, location and any tagline.
